What should a sample review cover?
A sample review should assess the exact product and packaging being considered. Record the product reference, version, date and supplier information so the approved sample can be traced.
Check packaging as a system.
Review the unit pack, protective packaging and shipping configuration together. Confirm dimensions, materials, artwork files, barcode placement and how instructions will be supplied.
Review the information, not just the appearance.
Identify which statements need supporting evidence. Ask for ingredient information, intended use, warnings, storage conditions and relevant documentation for the destination market. A visually finished sample is not proof that every claim is supported.
Close the loop before ordering.
Keep a written list of accepted items and open questions. Request a revised sample when a material detail changes. Agree which approved version forms the basis of the order and how future changes will be communicated.
